Methodist Healthcare Ministries is a private, faith-based not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating access to care for uninsured and underserved individuals and communities in 74 counties across South Texas. Since its inception in 1995, it has strived to improve the wellness of the least served through direct services provided at clinics it owns and operates in San Antonio, grants provided to more than 190 agencies and building and supporting community partnerships aimed at improving overall community health and access to care. As Methodist Healthcare Ministries approaches 25 years of service to its community, it is also infusing health equity principles into its community health strategy by highlighting the social determinants of health—the unique social and physical conditions in which community members live, learn, work, play and pray—that are present in its service region to improve health for all.
